Select Recipients
After drafting a press release, you will then choose who to send it to. In this section you will combine Headliner's media contacts with your personal contacts to build a customized audience for your story. This screen is broken up into several smaller steps.

At the top of the Select Recipients screen you will see a Contact type toggle. This will let you search for either contacts in Headliner's media database or the personal contacts you've previously uploaded into your account.
When the (default) Headliner's Contacts option is active, you will be able to browse media contacts in Headliner's database. While looking at Headliner's contacts, use the Filter by toggle to choose either the Location or Organization icon. You will then be able to looks for relevant contacts.
Search by Location
You can send your Headliner press release to any location in the US. To search by location, select the (default) Location filter and then enter the name of the location you'd like to add to your list in the text box. Choose your area from the list of matching cities, counties and MSAs:
You can add towns, cities, or MSAs to your list one at a time. Each time you search for a location, all of the potential recipients from that area will appear on the left side of your screen under the Search results section:
The default media contact for each organization will appear here, but you can use the Types and Topics to fine tune your list:
Types
The Type option allows you to choose only the specific media types that matter to you. Clicking an option like Print Daily will filter the left side of your screen to include only daily newspapers covering your chosen location, removing the other recipients.
Tags
Clicking a Tag bubble will potentially add more contacts to your search results. These added contacts will be reporters and editors who are only interested in the topic you selected. For example, clicking the Health Topic bubble will health-related contacts (if there are any).
Search by Organization
To search for a specific news organization, click on the Organization icon under the Filter by options and then enter the name of the organization in the text box:
Enter a name in the Organization search box to see all of the matches in Headliner's database. Choose the one you want:
Adding Recipients
The contacts listed in your search results can be added to your list either one at a time or in bulk. Click the plus sign next to any individual recipient to add one contact to your list, or the Add All button to add all of your search results at once:
Adding a recipient will move that person to the My List panel on the right side of your screen:
You can use the Contact type toggle at the top of this screen to send your press release to contacts outside of Headliner's media database.
Choose the My Contacts option to view all the personal contacts you've previously uploaded to Headliner:
They will appear on the left side of your screen under your Search results:
You can narrow this list down by searching for either a business or contact name.
Adding Recipients
Your personal contacts can either be added in bulk by clicking the Add All button, or individually using the plus sign next to each recipient:
This will move these contacts to the right side of your screen:
The right side of your screen contains a list of all of the people you have added to your list. These people will all receive a copy of your story when it goes out. This list can contain a mix of both Headliner's and your personal contacts:
You can remove individual recipients from your list by clicking on the minus sign next to their name. Alternatively, you can remove everyone and start over using the Remove All button:
When you are done selecting your recipients, click Next (Preview Release) to review your press release.
